NEVO Driving Academy provides exclusively customizable driver’s education and in-car driving lessons. They focus on situational awareness, vehicle dynamics, motion physics and stress management techniques. At NEVO, they break driving down to an art, a science, and a passion. After my son’s recent experience in the driver’s education class, we both can say we feel this is true. Our son James felt so much more confident after taking the drivers-ed class with Robert! Knowing more about the law and dynamics of driving really helped James with his driving skills.
James Noll’s (15 years old) Perspective on the Class
“NEVO Driving Academy is a fun and exciting experience! My class was about 8-9 people, and the instructor, Robert, was fantastic. Robert Dillman is the founder of NEVO which he started originally in Florida then came to Georgia to incorporate his driving ideas to the teens of our area. Robert is a very experienced driver who has helped train teens, law enforcement, and stunt professionals. Robert’s reasoning behind becoming a driving instructor was because of his experience as a cop in multiple states. Robert told us that he had received more than 47 calls of a teen driving fatality. When I heard those words, I knew that this guy knows what he is talking about and is very confident in his skills as an instructor and driver. Robert said that if those kids were taught to drive properly, they may still be alive and well to this very day. That is why Robert made his decision to be a teen driving instructor. The information he gave us over the five days of in-class instruction was extremely important to our safety as a driver and never once would have crossed my mind. For instance, one night we had finished our work early and we did a reaction test to see what would happen if we were faced with a split second decision. We had to accelerate to about 20mph, then right before a group of cones he would instruct us to turn left or right. On my first time going through the course, Robert told me to turn left but my gut instincts suddenly told me to go right and his instruction never even crossed my decision-making process. After that exercise, it was then obvious to me that driving is no joke, and you can get yourself seriously injured or killed making a wrong move on today’s roadways. As a fairly new driver only having my permit a couple of months, I already knew about all the terrible drivers on our roads today. Robert’s main point to our class was he was not to be worried about our own driving skills once we have finished the class, but that he was concerned about the other drivers on the road that make rash decisions causing our safety to be jeopardized. At the end of our 30 hour class which is required by the state, I went home feeling like a safer driver because of the nifty tips Rob has taught me. I can’t wait to take the in-car lessons!”
What is Nevo Driving Academy?
“NEVO Driving Academy is driver’s education re-defined with programs designed with today’s driver in mind. We understand that each student will arrive at NEVO with unique experiences and abilities. By offering relevant and fully customizable training options, we assure each student receives training specific to their needs. We are known for our integrity. We’re in business to assure that when you walk out of our office, you will be the safest driver; able to handle any situation that arises. We do not train with the driving test in mind. When to Take the Class
James turned 15 in May, 2017 and took the class in July 2017. I originally thought that he should take the class closer to turning 16 but now I know why kids should take soon after getting their permit. There are so many things to learn as a new driver and if they are making mistakes, Robert can catch them and correct early. Once the 30 hour class is finished, you can start on the car driving portion. Several weeks after the class James completed his first 2 hour session with Robert. James plans on taking the 2nd class after the holidays and the last class a few weeks prior to his license test. In my opinion, kids should take the class shortly after they get their permit to learn the rules of the road and things we dont know to tell/teach them. Then start working on the driving lessons with NEVO.
For the class sessions, all drinks, snacks and food are included in the price. That’s right!! You submit your child’s drink and snack preferences online after you pay and they are neatly organized in their kitchen waiting for them. The kids choose their dinner and it is picked up or delivered for them. James’ class had pizza, Jimmy Johns and Waffle House. NEVO wants the kids to be able to focus on what they are learning and not worry about what they will be eating. The students take a test on the last day to show they know how to be a safe and responsible driver on the roads!
NEVO’s programs are all inclusive and catered to each student. NEVO provides pickup/drop-off and use of their training vehicles on test day. They pick the student up, go over all the testing maneuvers once more and work out any kinks before heading to the DDS. Once there, the instructor will walk them through the process and be available for any questions they may have.
NEVO Driving Academy proudly offers in-car driving lessons in a Ford Focus or a Ford F150. All NEVO training vehicles are equipped with dual-brake controls, dual rear-view mirrors, and decals properly indicating that a driving lesson may be in session.
