The Alpharetta Christian Academy Preschool strives to provide social interactions, physical activities, and academic experiences in a safe, loving, and caring environment. It is our desire to help provide the spiritual and academic foundation on which each child can build in order to be a lifelong learner. We provide an age-appropriate environment that focuses on cognitive, fine motor, gross motor and social/ emotional skills. Through weekly Bible stories, songs, Bible verses, and chapel time for the threes and pre-k classes, each child is introduced to God and the world He created. All classes are structured using a variety of age-appropriate activities in small and large groups. On a weekly basis, we offer music and creative movement for all ages. Three-year-old and pre-k students also participate in weekly science and chapel. Pre-k students learn phonics with the A Beka curriculum.
ACA brings special events to the students as part of the curriculum. Visits from the dentist and firefighters, petting farm animals, and riding on a train are some of the enrichment activities your child will enjoy. Their Pre-K students take walking field trips to Publix, All Fired Up, and the Alpharetta Library. In addition, there are multiple events for parents. All ages have Donuts with Dad, and threes and under have Muffins with Mom, while our pre-k classes have a special Mother’s Tea. The threes and pre-k students present a Christmas program for the parents. The end of the year finale is pre-k graduation, complete with caps and gowns.
In a safe and family-oriented environment, students learn responsibility and accountability while excelling at our Christian curriculum that exceeds Common Core standards. We go beyond typical grade-level expectations, as well as teach time-honored fundamentals including cursive, spelling, Bible verse memorization, and math computation. The Shurley English curriculum gives students a strong understanding of grammar and sentence structure which carries over to student compositions. Low student-teacher ratios foster individual attention and the ability to teach to each child while building relationships. This small size with assistant combination enables teachers to conduct hands-on activities which require extra supervision. ACA has extracurricular programs that give students opportunities to perform and compete at various functions throughout the community.
Beyond the core classes, students receive additional instruction in Spanish, art, music, character development, P.E., computer, media, and chapel. In addition to classroom activities, all students kindergarten and older have a minimum of two field trips each year. ACA teaches its students to serve others and be a valued part of the community. As part of this effort, each class completes an age-appropriate service project.
The elementary program is accredited through the Georgia Accrediting Commission and is a member of the Southern Baptist Association of Christian Schools.
