Easter always brings lots of fun Easter “Hoppenings” to take the kiddos to around and about Alpharetta this spring! This year on Sunday, April 1, 2018 lots of little ones (and older kiddos too!) may have candy filled Easter baskets to wake up to! There are certainly many Easter Egg Hunts and activities planned in the area leading up to Easter, so have the children bring their Easter baskets, and you the camera, for those adorable shots with the Easter Bunny! Easter Egg Hunts and Activities
March 30 Archibold Smith Plantation Easter Egg Hunt 10:00 a.m.
The grounds of this historic house museum will once again host an annual Easter Egg Hunt. Open to the public, the event continues a tradition started by Lizzie Smith, oldest child of Archibald and Anne Smith. Admission is $5/person and children should bring their own baskets to enjoy finding candy-filled treats. March 31 Callanwolde’s Easter Egg Hunt Eggstravaganza 8 a.m.
Bring your basket and your camera for a family friendly Easter egg hunt amidst Callanwolde’s beautiful spring gardens and grounds. Eggstravaganza Easter Egg Hunt features thousands of candy-filled eggs to find (including three golden “prize” eggs) and a chance to meet the Easter Bunny. There will be family friendly games, a LEGO building station provided by LEGOLAND Discovery Center, a face painter, The Home Depot station, treats for sale by Cinnaholic, and a kids’ dance floor (beats brought to you by J&M Sound Design DJ)!
An indoor bar will also be available with beer, wine, mimosas, coffee, hot chocolate, and soft drinks for sale.
- 8:00 AM: Doors open/Trolleys are running from Emory parking lot
- 9:30 AM: Easter egg hunt for newborns to 1 year old in Hydrangea Garden.
- 9:50 AM: Easter egg hunt for ages 2 to 3 on the Portico lawn.
- 10:10 AM: Easter egg hunt for ages 4 to 6 on the Front Lawn
- 10:30 AM: Final egg hunt for ages 7 and up at the Amphitheater!
- 12 PM/Noon: Event ends.
Egg Hunts *will* start on time. We recommend arriving early!
No onsite parking available. Arrive early for parking. Parking is located at Emory Briarcliff Property’s Parking Lot A (1256 Briarcliff Road NE, Atlanta GA 30306) for $5.00
Trolley service will be available to and from the Emory Briarcliff Parking Lot. Trolleys will run every 10 minutes, starting at 9 AM. Thank you Georgia Trolley Service!
Small, foldable strollers are welcome on the trolley. However, we cannot accommodate large strollers.

The popular lakeside destination will once again play host to an Easter Celebration of epic proportions, showcasing a beachfront sunrise service and sumptuous Easter brunch buffet stocked with holiday favorites that have been expertly prepared by the resort’s culinary team. Outside on the Legacy Pointe lawn, families can enjoy Easter egg hunts, pony rides, petting zoo, activities and games planned by the resort’s Legacy Kids counselors, and opportunities to get their photo taken with the Easter Bunny himself. To start the day on Sunday, April 1, visitors are invited to join Free Chapel and Senior Pastor Jentezen Franklin for an Easter Sunrise Service at Big Beach at 7 a.m. Worshippers will enjoy free gate passage** and beach admission for the service and are encouraged to bring a blanket or chair to celebrate this very special Easter observance on the shores of Lake Lanier.
Later that morning and into the afternoon, Easter Brunch 2018 at Lanier Islands will be served in the Grand Ballroom of Legacy Lodge. The menu will feature such delectable items as:
~Made-to-Order Egg Station and traditional breakfast selections like grits, bacon, sausage, pastries and fruit
~An Assortment of Salads

April 1 Easter Sunrise Service 7 a.m. Stone Mountain
Experience serenity and peace as the Stone Mountain Sunrise Association presents two simultaneous, non-denominational Easter services at the top of the Mountain and at the base of the Mountain on the Memorial Lawn.
The event began in 1944, before the land around Stone Mountain was officially owned by the State of Georgia. Lucille A. Lanford, from Stone Mountain First United Methodist Church, suggested that the church’s youth group climb to the top of Stone Mountain on Easter morning to watch the sunrise. The event grew from that one youth group to thousands ascending the mountain every Easter since. The event is produced by The Stone Mountain Sunrise Association. Both services will feature sign language interpreters for hearing impaired guests.
Time: 7:00 a.m. (Park Gates and Summit Skyride open at 4:00 a.m.) Please allow an extra hour or more for large crowds.
Tickets: Vehicle entry to the park is $15 for a one-day permit or $40 for annual permit. Church vans and buses enter free. Skyride fees are $12 for round-trip and $8 for one-way. There are no fees for the walk-up trail to the top of the mountain. For visitors staying the day, they can purchase the Adventure Pass for $31.95 plus for adults and $26.95 plus tax for children.
