Families have boundless opportunities for outdoor family fun with the many parks and trails in North Fulton. We have put together a list to help you when you are looking to venture out on bikes, a walk or to play sports in a field. Several parks are along a river and have canoe access and picnic areas. Make a day of your park visit and pack a picnic lunch/blankets to relax and enjoy being outside!
ALPHARETTA
Big Creek Greenway
The Big Creek Greenway is a concrete trail approximately 8 miles long and meanders along Big Creek parallel to North Point Parkway, from Windward Parkway at Marconi Drive on the north end to Mansell Road on the south end. A soft mulch trail encircles a large wetland between Haynes Bridge Road and Mansell Road. Wildlife such as blue heron, deer, ducks and Canada geese can be observed in this preserved water setting.
Brooke Street Park
Brooke Street Park is a five-acre passive park in downtown Alpharetta located just behind City Hall. Take your time to enjoy the park and arboretum at your own pace with a winding concrete path, a beautifully landscaped stream, open lawn, Veterans War Memorial and a small reading garden located between City Hall and the new Fulton County Library. Flowering trees add color to the landscape with their wide range of sizes and flower color choices.
Cogburn Road Park
Cogburn Road Park amenities include a .2 mile concrete walking path, restrooms and play area. Two small group pavilions are available on a first come first serve basis. A large playground serves youth age 2-5 years and 5-12 years. The Alpharetta Arboretum at Cogburn Park is a living museum featuring seven trees and a rain barrel demonstration area. The collected rainwater is used to water trees and other plants at the park. The park also offers a large, open play area and a 0.2-mile walking path. 12825 Cogburn Road
North Park
North Park amenities include lighted tennis courts, a football field with synthetic turf, a multi-purpose field, eight lighted softball fields, two picnic pavilions, two playgrounds, an Adult Activity Center, an Arts Building, and a walking trail. North Park is also the home of the North Metro Miracle League at the Alpharetta Adapted Sports Complex. 13450 Cogburn Road
Union Hill Park
Union Hill Park amenities include two outdoor roller hockey rinks, one of which is covered. 1590 Little Pine Trail
Webb Bridge Park
Webb Bridge Park amenities include two grass soccer fields, a multi-purpose synthetic turf field, four baseball fields, four tennis courts, a walking trail, an arboretum, concession stands, three picnic pavilions (available on a first come, first serve basis) and the Webb Zone Playground featuring a seasonal running water stream (pictured) and sundial. 4780 Webb Bridge
Wills Park
Wills Park amenities include eight baseball fields, two tee ball fields, four picnic pavilions, Wacky World Playground, two smaller playgrounds, a disc golf course, tennis courts, a 1.8 mile walking trail, and the Alpharetta Arboretum at Wills Park. 11925 Wills Road
CUMMING
Caney Creek Preserve
Walking trails, dog park, pavilions, natural amphitheater, playground with an archeological dig site and water play area. 2755 Caney Road
Fowler Park
This expansive park in Cumming features 2 playgrounds, pavilions, walking trail, basketball courts, tennis courts, athletic fields and skate park. 4110 Carolene Way
A new playground is currently being installed at Poole’s Mill Park (7725 Poole’s Mill Road) to replace the current structure and will open in mid-Summer.
The replacement playground is designed for ages 5-12 and will include slides, swings (one handicapped accessible), an IKO ball climber, synthetic turf surfacing, and more.
Located in northwest Forsyth County, also features a covered bridge, creek, picnic pavilions, and the Cumming Garden Club’s Memorial Garden.
Sawneee Mountain Preserve
A 963-acre park know for Indian Seats rock formation, with hiking trails and a interactive visitor center. Located just 40 miles north of Atlanta in Cumming, Georgia, Sawnee Mountain Preserve provides visitors with 821 acres of scenic passive space that includes 11 miles of hiking trails, picnic areas and an interactive Visitor Center.
Sawnee Mountain Preserve visibly links to the summit of the Blue Ridge Mountain Range, as well as the rich history of the woodland culture of North Georgia’s Native American inhabitants. The mountain is named after a local Cherokee Native American, Sawnee. Now, after having survived the passage of time, natural disasters, searches for gold, timber clearing, and urban development, the land has been preserved.

JOHNS CREEK
Newtown Park
Features 52 acres with a small lake and walking and jogging trails, athletic fields, basketball courts, softball and baseball fields, tennis courts, picnic pavilions, playgrounds, a community garden, and dog park. A covered pavilion hosts free workout classes and free concerts! 3150 Old Alabama Road
Ocee Park
Ocee Park offers athletic and recreational options including playgrounds, walking trails, baseball/softball fields, tennis courts, sand volleyball courts and picnic pavilions. 10900 Buice Road
Shakerag Park
Featuring 66 acres with walking and jogging trails, lake, athletic fields, playground, and picnic pavilions. 10945 Rogers Circle
MILTON
Bell Memorial Park
An active-use park with four baseball fields, pavilions, picnic areas, parking, concessions and a playground. 15245 Bell Park Road
Birmingham Park
This 200-acre site, located behind Fire Station No. 43 at 750 Hickory Flat Road, is currently undeveloped but open for passive use (hiking, dog walking, or horseback riding). 750 Hickory Flat Road
Friendship Community Park
Small picnic pavilion, walking path, half court basketball and a play field. 12785 Birmingham Highway
ROSWELL
Azalea Park
