The Greater Gwinnett Championship Presented by Mitsubishi Electric Cooling & Heating, a PGA TOUR’s Champions Tour event, will be returning to the Metro Atlanta area April 14-20, 2014. This 54-hole stroke play tournament will feature 81 Champions Tour professionals competing for a $1.8 million purse at the prestigious TPC Sugarloaf. Kids Day is on Saturday (4/19) and will include a putting green, face painting, appearances by mascots and much more. The championships final day falls on Easter Sunday, and look for an appearance by the Easter Bunny and a host of other outdoor activities to take place.
The 2013 Greater Gwinnett Championship thrilled spectators and sponsors as they watched Bernhard Langer capture his 18th Champions Tour win. His three-stroke victory was against one of the top fields on the Champions Tour schedule. World Golf Hall of Fame members Tom Watson, Hale Irwin, Tom Kite, Ben Crenshaw, Curtis Strange, Sandy Lyle, and Larry Nelson all competed. Other notable participants included Kenny Perry, Rocco Mediate, Tom Lehman, John Cook, Fred Funk, Steve Elkington, and Mark Calcavecchia. All are expected to compete for the 2014 title.
All three rounds of the Greater Gwinnett Championship will be televised nationally by Golf Channel and proceeds from the event will benefit local charities through the Gwinnett Championship Foundation, Inc.
