INDIEHOUSE Modern Fragrance Bar, an interactive fragrance experience and clean beauty fragrance boutique, is now open in historic downtown Alpharetta. The modern fragrance bar offers 150+ scents found nowhere else in Atlanta and experts help guests create their own custom scents.
Founded by Alpharetta resident and mom, Carrie Hadley, the concept was born from the founder’s long-time quest to find her perfect fragrance. Since she was a teenager, Carrie was drawn to scents for their amazing and “magical” ability to gather people together. After spending time in the south of France as well as developing proprietary house scents at a perfumer’s studio in Los Angeles, she combined a niche shopping experience with a custom fragrance blending workshop space and INDIEHOUSE was born.
“I started to realize that what the world needed was not another fragrance brand, but rather, a better way to experience the many amazing independent brands already available on the market,” said Carrie Hadley. “I figured if I could bring together the best in clean fragrance then offer the opportunity to try your hand at creating your own, it would be a win for customers. Not to mention a fun outing!”
The perfect “daycation” for moms, INDIEHOUSE offers the following DIY fragrance experiences:
Scent Blending 101 – during the two-hour workshop ($89 per person), fragrance experts deconstruct complex fragrances into primary building blocks then guide guests to create a personal scent to evoke whatever character, mood and style they want to share with the world. Guests create a personalized fragrance from 30 perfume accords. Group classes with friends and family (6 guest maximum) and private events are available.
Mixing Bar – flex your creativity and create a bespoke scent with a team of experienced fragrance curators. This mini workshop ($49 per person) allows guests to create a custom scent from one of six house blends, choosing a base scent guided by INDIEHOUSE fragrance experts. Scents include modern romantic, urban bohemian, sporty chic, fresh minimalist, elegant and sophisticated, or 100% botanical. At the end, name your scent and INDIEHOUSE will create a custom label with the date and fragrance name. Need a refill? The sustainable refill service allows each full size bottle to be returned and refilled for half the price.
INDIEHOUSE only carries brands that adhere to strict EU laws and carefully screens brands for compliance, declining any that are included on the “dirty” or “suspicious” list. For those guests looking for 100% pure fragrances with zero synthetics, INDIEHOUSE has curated a “100% Botanical” category which is designated by the “SQUEEKY” symbol, these brands guarantee they are crafted using zero synthetic ingredients, only pure essential oils, purified water and organic alcohol.
INDIEHOUSE Fragrance Bar takes the CDC-recommended precautions and the space has a medical-grade Carbon-Filter Air Purifier from Austin Air running continuously that is known to remove viruses and bacteria from the air.
I (AlpharettaMoms.Org) had a chance to experience Indiehouse Fragrance Bar at a recent media event and I loved it! Carrie’s passion for the business was refreshing to hear as she spoke about fragrance and the voyage that led her to start her own fragrance bar. I LOVE the scent I blended at the mixing bar and had fun smelling the many independent perfumes at the different stations. The independent fragrances she carries are sampled by lifting a clear glass cylinder to your nose (a piece of paper under the cylinder with the scent sprayed on it captures the scent) instead of spraying paper with the perfume which can then get all over you and the room. It is such a clean, fresh way to experience finding a fragrance that suite your interests! I can’t wait to go back!
