Medieval Times Atlanta and Brave PR hosted a Media and VIP event last week to introduce the new show that Medieval Times has spend almost two years making! AlpharettaMoms.Org was thrilled to be invited to the event and have a chance to tell our readers about the experience. My boys were excited to see real knights jousting, eat a meal that men and women would have eaten over a hundred years ago and experience something new and medieval!
As we entered the castle, the Queen introduced herself and graciously had her picture taken with us. The pictures were presented in a nice souvenir package that my kids will forever cherish. We meandered around and were treated to appetizers and drinks while introducing ourselves to various knights and other members of the Medieval Times crew. It was quite impressive that we were greeted with “Hello, Madam how may I be of service?”, especially when it’s a good-looking knight! All workers were in full garb and spoke with an adorable European accent. The ribbon cutting made everything official and the doors were then opened for the show. Goody bags were at our seats filled with glow sticks which were a huge hit, souvenir cups, hats, stickers, waving flags and more! Our waiter was quite the gentleman and tended to our every need.
King Carlos and the Royal Court from the Medieval Times Dinner and Tournament’s Atlanta Castle put on an extraordinary, two-hour live show that we were all in awe of. The show is full of jousting, sword fights, excellent horsemanship, falconry and hot knights! The four-course meal was presented in true Medieval fashion – no spoons or forks. We started with a yummy bowl of tomato-bisque soup, then a grilled chicken leg (which was very tasty), 1/2 a potato grilled, spare rib, bread and apple pie for dessert!!
As their website states, you will be “swept away to an age of bravery and honor with epic battles of steel and steed. From ringside seats, discover a feast of the eyes and appetite with all the splendor and romance of the 11th Century Spain.” My 6 year old was concerned for the knights when they were battling. He said, “Mommy, I think he needs some band-aids!” It was that believable.
We highly recommend taking your date, family or friends for this exciting show and be swept away in time. Located at Discover Mills Shopping Center. 5900 Sugarloaf Parkway Lawrenceville, GA 30043
