Why is early intervention so critical?Science tells us that the brain grows and develops quickly from birth to age three. Early intervention increases the likelihood of changing the development of the brain. Specifically, Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) teaches critical skills before a child has the opportunity to develop a challenging behavior or habit. ABA therapy is customized to the individual, and it develops language and learning skills that prepare a child to enter group learning upon entering a school program. Early ABA intervention significantly improves a child’s long-term outcomes.
What is Applied Behavior Analysis?
Applied Behavioral Analysis (ABA) helps children understand how their actions influence outcomes, and then teaches them to change their behavior to get outcomes they desire. The goal is to increase behaviors that are helpful and decrease behaviors that are harmful or affect learning. ABA therapy can also teach independent living skills such as toilet training, feeding, and dressing. Each program focuses on individual strengths and preferences and is adaptable to home, school, and the community. While each treatment plan is individualized, our center-based services provide the opportunity for children to work on group social and play skills in a structured environment.
