May is Military Appreciation Month and I couldn’t think of a better time for families to show their support for everything military personnel do for all of us. Our nation would not be what it is today if it weren’t for the brave men and women who protect and gives their lives for our freedom and rights.
Ways to show appreciation for our nation’s military:
Deliver goodies or prepare a meal for your local veterans/military office. Make a concerted effort for your children to meet the men/women there and to thank them for their service. Learn more about ways to send items by researching “Boxes for our Troops” in Georgia.
Write letters to our active military in the U.S and overseas thanking them for their sacrifice.
Help organize a community event in honor of military personnel. Have vendors there who donate proceeds to a local veterans group. Holding an event is a great way for the community to personally meet and thank them for their service but also to make them feel appreciated.
Participate in Memorial Day activities and stop to take the time to acknowledge what Memorial Day stands for. Maybe you walk in a parade, visit a local monument or attend church – to show our gratitude for those that died for us. may choose to enjoy the long Memorial Weekend, make a point of stopping to acknowledge the true meaning of that day. March in a parade, visit a local monument, attend a church service, stop by a cemetery, or find another way to acknowledge those that died for the freedoms we enjoy each day.
